Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do you charge for your services?

Nothing. Till I prove I can give you something you think is worth paying for there’s no cost. I’m serious. There’s no charge to talk to me and bounce around some ideas. If we decide we want to go further I’ll give you a specific bid for your project. No, I’m not going to give you hours of free advice, but don’t worry, I’ll let you know if I think you’re taking advantage of me.

  • Is there anywhere I can go to get some of your philosophy on marketing?

Sure. Subscribe to my newsletter. Go read my monthly column on fiction marketing here.
  • What do you think of most advertising these days?

I think most marketing falls into one of two camps. It's either so creative you remember the ad, but have no clue what the product is about, or it's so predictable and boring you remember nothing. Remember the Superbowl ad about seven years ago where the cowboys herded cats? Most people still remember it years later. Highly creative. Very memorable. But what company or product was if for? No clue. Great advertising points to the product, not how creative the ad agency is.
  • Can I see some of the marketing you've done?

Sure, e-mail me and, tell me what you're specifically looking for (Web sites, radio spots, print ads, blogs, etc) I'll fire some examples your way.
  • Is there a secret to guaranteeing every marketing step I take will work?
Yes. Unfortunately no one knows what it is. But I've done this since '94 so I know what works the majority of the time.
